What do you guys think about the May 1st protest against the new immigration laws?
Are any of you going to take part? I live in El Paso, Texas (along the U.S./Mexico border) and I heard that everyone who is Mexican won't be going to work, school, shopping etc...

I agree with Hayley. It's pointless. This country will function, just as it always has. And the Immigration Service should be noting what plants actually do shut down - those are the ones hiring the illegals. Then on May 2nd, it'll be just like the commercial for the bug spray... RAID!!

They should not protest because they are not citizens. They should focus on reforming Mexico's corrupt political system.

Yes, sure I will stay at my house all day long. It is going to be a day that will show what would really happens if there where no immigrants. People say that we are bad for the economy so if this is true the economy will boom on that day. First some people say it is pointless but then they say that they will go and buy many things on that day. Confusing.....Isn't it? If they say that they will go and buy more things on that day is because they know that this boycott will affect the country. And then they say it is pointless! VERY CONFUSING...........................

Being a liberal in Texas (pretty much the worst sin around here), I would love to show support, but there is no mobilization around NE Texas as far as I can tell. -Every- American citizen has an illegal immigrant some where in their past, and it's a shame that folks tend to forget that.

Man all u who cal yourself american there are no americans,try to find the U.S. official language, the U.S. doesn't even have an official language thats a shame for the U.S., if u don't want imigrants why do keep hiring them,cause u know u need them, and when u do go shopping have fun walking in the trash cause there will be no one to clean up YOUR ditry mess YOU leave oh and also have fun when u try to get something to eat at reastaurant,fastfood,ect
