Do you think a woman in her 50s with a master degree in latin american border studies can find a job?
My mom has her masters degree and has been looking for a job in el paso texas. I live away from her, because I live in Missouri and I keep telling her to go look for a job in other cities and states. She doesnt want to leave my sister there in el paso texas because my little sister is still in high school and should be graduating in 3 years. My dad is retired and so now my mom wants to support the family. Where could my mom find a job in the usa with that degree? Do you think she should move out of el paso cause in el paso texas they dont have a lot of job openings. Not unless you are in the medical field or teaching field.

She could take education extension courses and then be qualified for teaching. She doesn't actually have to finish the courses, just indicate that she WILL take them. She could be hired as a probationary teacher and then receive tenure when she finishes her courses. Texas seems a great area to teach in her major subject.

She is qualified to teach, just depends where. I would make the suggestion that she teach at the University of Mexico in San Antonio, TX.

Do you think your mom would be interested in teaching part-time? If there are local colleges near where she lives, she may qualify to teach some undergraduate classes in say, Latin American studies. It won't pay much, but it will get her into the field. Some colleges/universities don't require a teaching degree (elementary/secondary) to teach at the college level. What about immigration services? Does she have a working knowledge of Spanish? She may be able to help new immigrants fill out forms for medical help, etc. Even though she may not use her degree, she may want to look into working in a library- either at the public library level or at the university level. There are many jobs that require a college degree and a foreign language. She may not be able to get a position as a 'librarian' because that requires a Master's Degree. But, she may be able to work in a support staff position. She should also take advantage of her college's placement services. Most colleges and universities have a department that will help graduating students. She should make an appointment and talk over her prospects with one of the counselors.

i got a ticket from a state trooper in sutton county texas, can i go to driving defense school in my county.?
i recieve a ticket coming from san antonio tx, go home to el paso tx.. i was pulled over for speeding 91 in 80 speed limit zone in sutton county thats not all i also got a ticket for having my window tint in my car... my understanding is state trooper gave me a paper to appear in front of sutton county jugde i dont live there, i cant go there again traveling cant .. what can i do can i go too driving defense classes in my hometown of el paso. can i clear my ticket that way.. or do i have to pay it and have my insurance go up too.... how much is the fine for window tint in texas? am lost please someone help me w/ info.......

you have to take it in the county in which you recieved it....

Yes! Before the court date on the ticket, send a request for dismissal by driving safety course to the court by certified mail. You can take the course anywhere in Texas or online. You will only be able to have one of the tickets dismissed that way. You'll have to pay the other, but sometimes you can get deferred adjudication through the mail. Call the court as well, but don't forget to send the letter by certified mail, it's the only way to prove that you requested it in time. Also, if anything goes wrong, call a lawyer in that county, because JP courts like that one allow for an automatic appeal to the County Court at Law, and that can come in very handy sometimes. If i did my first year at the University of Texas El Paso, what colleges would i have a chance of getting accepted to as a transfer student? (assuming i had like a 3.5-4.0)..would i get shot to the bottom of the list because of the school? I don't want to stay there for four years.. PS: Prospective Physics major / astronomy or math minor

But his high schoolâ€™s principal said in Tuesdayâ€™s El Paso Times that the 18-year-old private has been told he canâ€™t wear his military uniform during the graduation ceremony. "This uniform does not fit in" said the principal.

Its about uniformity. Something a military man should understand. They want the graduating class to be UNIFORM. He would stick out in a different uniform.

It isn't because the school is anti-military. It is because it goes against the tradition of everybody wearing the same cap and robe while crossing the stage. It is the same thing as us telling our guys that they have to be in the same uniform for our graduations. Some people may see it as anti-military but the ones that do aren't looking at the big picture. Now, if that principal has a record of being anti-military then it may be a little different.

Okay here we go, It's High School not a military function. There is no good reason for this Person to wear a Military uniform to a High School Graduation just to receive his Diploma. Yep it's the weekend and we are off. Hope it gets more entertaining as we go along.

Let's see, the cap and gown (uniformity) hides all the ridiculous clothes that graduates chose to wear if any. Anyone that graduated with a cap and gown knows what all was worn under the garb. He is proud (as he should be) of his accomplishments so far. For Jarhead and Cordelia- I guess y'all are ashamed of being in the military and wearing the uniform. What a pity!

Blonde hair is rare in populations period no matter the race because the darker genes dominate. Seeing as how hispanics have darker genes than non hispanics it is easy to see why blonde might be a bit more common in non hispanic white races.

This is maybe because Hispanic come from Aztecs and the prehispanic cultures that were in Mexico a long time ago. The people that live in El Paso, Texas arrived from Mexico when Texas separated itself from Mexico. That's why.

Given our mixed heritage, we do have blond hair children. I know plenty of Hispanic/Latino people who look American.

Really? It's all genetics. Have you seen a truly blonde Korean? A redheaded Thai? Most Hispanic people are from Spanish (Mediterranean which is dark hair) and Indian stock. Not many Hispanic people have Viking or Anglo ancestors - Sweden, Norway, Germany - like WASPs. Not every Mexican can be shoved into this mold, however, as there are other roots from Europe represented there. I did see a couple of little girls with blonde hair in an impoverished area of Chihuahua this winter.

Probably because the majority of Hispanic children in the USA are Mestizo (mixed White and Native.) If you went to a Latin American country which was predominatly of European descent (i.e. Argentina) then you'd probably find more children with blonde hair. But, to be honest, Blonde hair is rare even amongst White children. The only countries in Europe which have a high percentage of natural blondes are the Scandinavean countries and some Eastern European ones.
